I was thinking about placing my license plate on my robot recently. But I’ve realized that almost every team places it on each side of their robot. But is it allowed if I place it on the front and back of the robot? Is it okay as long as it’s visible? I want to make the robot seem more like a car.
yes, it says that in the rules that it just needs to be two opposing sides
As per the game manual and robot inspection manual, these are the rules of license plate usage on a robot.
So yes, if it’s front and back, it should be legal as long as the plates do not serve a functioning purpose and are visible.
What if the license plates get broken off by an opposoing robot?
Try to put them in a place where that isn’t likely to happen, but if it does, just replace them for the next match. I doubt any ref would care that it broke off.
Note, there is a rule that says you can not intentionally leave parts of your robot on the field. Although, you might not intend for the license plate to come off, if it continues to happen in match after match, a referee would be in his rights to warn you and possible DQ you, if you did nothing to prevent it from falling off, knowing that it will.
Plates falling off at competitions happens all the time, it’s not a big deal. However if your plates fall off every time you compete, the refs will notice and you they may take action.
