Linqbot

Newbie here. I’m following the directions to build the Linqbot and it asks for 2 drive shafts (228-2500-124) which Vex describes as 8x Pitch (4") Shaft. I bought the competition kit and I haven’t seen them anywhere in my kit. Is there a different shaft I should use instead?

Welcome to the forum. The answer is yes, there are numerous different shafts you can use. Metal shafts work best. Just make sure you. use a shaft long enough for your task and shaft collars on the end to keep it in place.

My experience has been going up a size for most drive shafts gives you a little more room to put two of the rubber collars on. Buying the long shaft and the long capped assortment packs are worth it, reduces the messing around factor.

for a drivetrain a long shaft is to long probably. Especially for link that size shaft is to big.

This is a depends kind of thing.

If you look at their note, they don’t have the 8 pitch shaft. If you look at Long Shaft Assortment pack:

Long Shaft Add-On Pack (228-4420)

There are 9 and 10 pitch shafts in it, they will work fine.

The regular shaft kits border on useless, they are mostly too short for decent designs. With the advent of capped pins, using the 1" long shaft with two collars is harder than using the capped pin.
