When looking through the rules for Change Up I could not find Loctite being allowed anywhere in the game manual. I found this thread that seems to show that the same thing happened in Tower Takeover Missing Rules? and I am wondering if I missed where the rule is, if this is an oversight, or an intended decision?
probably something for the Q&A
I will garuntee you locktite is legal, especially since VEX sells screws that have locktite on them. So, because you will be using an identical product, it technically is legal.
Thank you or making me aware of this! I still think this might be worth asking about in the Q&A (Is loctite only legal on those length screws? or does R12 allow legal use of loctite on any length screw?) but this serves to solve one piece of the puzzle!
R12
Certain non-VEX screws, nuts, and washers are allowed. Robots may use any commercially available #4, #6, #8, M3, M3.5, or M4 screw up to 2” (50.8mm) long (nominal), and any commercially available nut, washer, and/or spacer (up to 2” / 50.8mm long) to fit these screws
The intent of the rule is to allow teams to purchase their own commodity hardware without introducing additional functionality not found in standard VEX equipment. It is up to inspectors to determine whether the non-VEX hardware has introduced additional functionality or not
Emphasis mine
This has happened in years past. It needs asked on the q and a, but usually any size screw can have loctite applied.
I can just imagine you scraping the locktite off the 1/4" screws to put on a 2" screw xD
Don’t worry, it should be legal for every size.
