Logistics and Transporation

I am not sure it’s the RECF so much as the event partner. Mississippi and Missouri state championships are open to out of state teams.

I’m fairly sure that the rule is that you can attend any state tournament you want, but you may only attend one.

We had no trouble flying air Canada directly, just by packing our robot in a home-made wooden crate and everything else in a suitcase. One piece of advice I will give to others is to keep the crates less than 24"x24"x24". Our’s measured 22"x22"x22" and barely fit through the 24"x24" gap in the airport scanner. If it didn’t fit, everything would have been manually checked, which is a pain.

We got through without any problems at all, despite suspicious looking packing as if we were running drugs past the border:

Don’t sweat travelling too much. If you explain what you’re travelling for even the most uptight TSA agent will realize there is no problem.](http://postimg.org/image/yfr3xgfb7/)

You have clearly never flown United.

ACME crates? I sincerely hope that is how 12A and 12B got their robots to Nationals and Worlds. :stuck_out_tongue:

When I traveled to worlds I had a wooden crate that was used previously for FTC I wrapped the robot in bubble wrap and removed the wheels. I put tons of printed pictures of the robot on the box and signs.

Then the funny story is american airlines should have charged me 25$ flying out but they did not charge for it because they loved the robot so much and thought it was the coolest thing ever

Whether that is the rule or not, some state competitions will not allow out-of-state teams to compete in it.

:stuck_out_tongue: That’s great!

So did anybody else notice that it says “COMPETION ROBOT?”

Yes, and that’s what our case said to. I would recommend it so they know what it is.

Yeah, you wouldn’t want them to confuse it with a “Competition” robot.:stuck_out_tongue:

I have been lucky enough to have somebody catch my typo’s on signs before I used them.

I mean you mispelled competition lol

Edit: SBD beat me to it haha

 that’s what you get for being a solo team and printing them at 4am

Oh you didn’t have to remove the photo :frowning:

My bad I decided now that I’m graduating I should rearrange my drop box as its a mess. I moved it back to the folder it was in so the old link should work. I have another picture of the crate also http://db.tt/IgkO0N7m

The bubble wrap was like 15$ at Walmart for like a 100 foot roll. This wrapped my robot and 4886’s and left a bunch unused. Shipping is yet another reason I liked the cantilevered wheels because it was simple to remove them.

Looks like something you could strap to your chest
