I am moving to Milwaukee and am looking to join teams there. I am a coder and designer but I also can build and do notebook. I am going into 11th grade.
If you for some reason don’t get any responses here go ahead and check the attached link for a map (be sure to adjust the filters to just VRC, although the map will show both HS and MS teams) of nearby teams to you in Milwaukee? Also are you sure that your school won’t have any teams/you don’t want to start one? In addition if you need help I’m sure the TEM (Team Engagement Manger) for Wisconsin could assist you in finding/connecting with a nearby existing team.

You can use the map feature of robotevents to look for teams

Unfortunately, it looks like most teams in that area are school-run. I would recommend looking to see if your future school has a program and if not, considering starting your own program.
What team are you originally from?
38053D. We started off very well but unfortunately we ran into lots of motor problems (we had over 20 rev 10 motors) we were able to qualify for the world championship but unfortunately cannot go.
Thanks for the link.
Sadly, there are few VRC Teams in the Milwaukee area. The closest would likely be Shoreland Lutheran in Somers, WI. which is outside of Kenosha, south of Milwaukee or Oconomowoc which is northwest of Milwaukee. For as long as VRC has been in the state of WI, we really haven’t gotten much penetration into either Milwaukee or Madison.
Definately check out the map that other users have linked. I’m from Shoreland Lutheran going into 12th grade, and our program is really good. Shoreland does have a lot of people commute from Milwaulkee, I think that we even have some busses that go to oak creek. You would have to enroll in the school to join the robotics program, but we also have all the pltw classes.
As for other teams, I know Whitnall high school in New Berlin has a team, and they would be closest to you. Union grove high school is probably too far away, but they also have a team. I was talking to a friend from MSOE the other day and I think they said that MSOE might have some stuff for high schoolers too? Don’t quote me on that. 53140A is in kenosha and I don’t think they are assosiated with a school.
The last time I was at Wisconsin Lutheran High School (aka wisco) I saw that they had a field. This was during spin up if I remember correctly. I know that they don’t have any teams regestered, but that may be something to look into as well.
If you’re intersted in Shoreland lmk!
I have looked into shoreline and I am very interested in its robotics program. Do you know how far it is from Milwaukee and if any buses go that far?
What part of Milwaukee are you moving to? West Alice? Oak creek?
On the website under bussing info it says that busses go to south Milwaukee, but I know of some people are from central Milwaukee who drive themselves. Carpools at Shoreland are pretty common, so that’s also something to consider. Not sure if this is an option for you, but in Wisconsin you can get your drivers license at 16. If you have a car you could also drive yourself.
