Check out his school, they may or may not have one, if they don’t talk to that school about starting one up, most teams are associated with a school and surely the school will have some similarly minded kids. If nobody’s interested there’s always the way of using the “if you do well enough for worlds you get to miss a week of school” to get kids in your doors. Generally id have him talk to the science, math, and if you have them engineering teacher because as long as their free most of them are glad to help out. You can five a private//community team but I think you school is your best bet.

You can also look at https://www.robotevents.com/map, which can show you teams in your area. It looks like there are a good number of teams in your area, and as Liam_5405 said, your child’s school may have a robotics program.
