Make it Real CAD challenge

I’m so glad that the CAD challenge is finally out.
And I love that there is some cool prizes this year.
Which will give some more incentive to actually put the time in and complete this challenge.
I entered last year but I didn’t really do it for the price I did it for the experience and the skills i learnt alone along the way.
I won it last year and my student mentor who taught me how to do cad won it the year before. But the prices were always a little bonus on the side. the real prize is the very useful planning & CAD skills that you learn along the way.

So I encourage teams to work on this challenge and enter even if you don’t know how to use cad use this opportunity to learn how to use CAD. Its amazing skill you can go build your whole robot on the computer and save lots of time so when you do build a robot you can get it right the first time.

The 3d printer is just such a cool prize for a Robotics team there are so many things you can do with it from prototyping to printing robot components.
And can we have some more information about the drone.

Thanks for the cool prizes:)

If you had a 3D printer or your do have a 3D printer what would you use it for in a Robotics Club.

Hello Charlie, apologies for this extremely tardy reply, but I am new to the VEX Forums as of earlier today. I’m happy to see you jumped on this challenge when it was announced over the summer.

Congrats on winning the challenge last year - I love how you truly “get it” - that it’s really about the skills you learn and the experience you gain, with the prizes as an added bonus. You are an inspiration to us all! I do hope more teams learn to use CAD in order to design, build and test their robots virtually, thus saving valuable build time.

I’m glad you like the prizes this year - we really wanted to give teams something valuable and fun, which is why the obvious choice was for 3D printers. As for the drone, I believe it’s able to mount a camera, but let me check on the specifics just to make sure. I’ll check with the team and get back to you with verification.

Best of luck again this year - we’re excited to see your submissions!
