I am trying to figure out how to have a slapper fast with good grouping. What gear ratio should I try and or advise any is helpful.
with a slapper it’s not about the gear ratio but the tension so a green should be fine with rubber bands
My team currently has a double slip gear which helped drastically increase our loading speed. We’re running 36:84 which is a bit bigger in size but you can prob go smaller like 12:72 if u want a smaller catapult.
I would recommend a stripped 36 with 12 teeth stripped to make it a 24, that is driven by a 100rpm red motor to a 84 and if you have the resources on the front of your slapper, cut a small 2 inch flex wheel in half and ziptie or screw it on the slapper. Trust me it launches the ball much further. I guess because of the recoil like the spring back.
One important thing to consider is how far back the puncher arm goes. This can drastically change how much force the motor needs to use to get each punch out.
You should use a red motor on the slip for 100 shots per minute. Any lower and you won’t have enough time to finish your skills run, any higher and you won’t be able to match load it fast enough. We use a metal 24t slip gear to a 72 tooth high strength gear, but 24t slip to 60t can also work if you do it right.
