Making Rack Gears faster

how do you make a rack gear faster? Do you change the gear from a 12t gear to a 60t gear?

Thanks for your help, Sunnie

Yes, a larger gear will make the rack move faster, but with less torque.

Thanks for your help❤️

How do you make it so the 60T gear fits on the rack without the gear rubbing against the piece that holds everything together?

If you can, upload a picture/pictures of your mechanism so we can better help you.

yep sure

so i need the 60t gear instead of the 12t gear

You could put two 12t gears on the same shaft , with one driving the rack. The other 12t could then be driven by a 60t gear attached to the motor shaft. This would yield a 5-1 ratio and would be much faster.

The linear slide portion doesn’t need to be pinned to the motor.

Build a frame to hold your linear slide so the rack slides in and out. Use two of the linear slide brackets spaced out enough to have a 60T gear fit between them. Mount the motor off the frame at the appropriate distance away.

Alternatively, the rack can fit both ways in the slide and you may have more luck flipping it over.
