The intake from the 7700R video reminds me of one way fish traps. You have a tube with flexable poky things sticking in ward and when a fish swims in one way it can go through easily, while if it tries to escape the fish is poked. So maybe the cone intake is a “tube” with a one way pokey thing. and to let go of the cone it moves it away from the cone horizontally, which is kinda weird, but way cool.
@NightsRosario does a good job of explaining how it works. “It’s not a claw. It’s essentially a funnel made with lexan. It has a slit in the back so they can just go down on a stack and pull back down immediately to the next cone.”
