Missed team registration, what can we do?

Hi,
Posting question for our friends team. They are a Vex IQ rookie team. They did not realize that they need a separate team registration apart from event registration and missed the team registration date.

They have already bought field elements and whole kit and have built their robot. They are a good team and really want to participate in this season.

Given that registration date is just passed, is there something they can still do? If not, are there any teams in San Jose area who would like to merge with them?

Welcome to the forums! I’m so sorry for your friends team and feel bad about them not getting registered. If there are any other spots in regions near where they are, they can (I’m not 99% sure) sign up for those competitions.

I don’t understand the spots system you mentioned.
I see that tournament in their region have spots open. But they didn’t register the team on vex events site, which I think is prerequisite for signing up for the tournament right?
Do team registration also have spots?

My recommendation is that they try to email their RECF Regional Support Manager (Support Map : Robot Events) and see if they can do anything to help.

I think @VexBuilder77 misunderstood what you said and thought that you weren’t able to register for a specific event. Yes, you won’t be able to sign up for events on the site if your team is not registered first.

You will want to get in touch with your REC Foundation regional contact.
They deal with team registration issues (among other things).

You can find the contacts for your region at https://www.robotevents.com/support.
(click on your region on the map)

It’s a multistep process

  1. Register the team on Robotevents.com as a team. There is a $200 payment to do this . There are no limits on the number of teams that can be registered.
  2. Register the team for an event, You also do this on robot events. Each event has a limited number of spots and they go on a first come first serve basis. You can not register for an event without having a team registration.

Click California - see the numbers for Bill and Richard? Call them, tell them your story and see what they can do to help you out.

I think it is too late to register a team because it ended early December.

I always think of two things. First is “Unless you ask, the answer is always no”. And as @DanMantz says “Never discount the skills or abilities of your local RECF managers”

Unfortunately the IQ team is not able to register at this point.

I hope they can merge with some other team in San Jose area that needs team members.
This team has dedicated access to field and having two robots can help team scrimmage and improve too.

Please let me know if any team is interested
