We have been having the same problem with one of our bots that shows up everyday. The error message says; Exception Report: Missing or Invalid Motor on port 1. We have replaced the motor, we have repeatedly downloaded the Vex IQ firmware, the RobotC for Vex IQ firmware, sometimes it works and sometimes we would do it enough that eventually work, now nothing! We swapped out motor and cables but nothing works. Please help
So let’s narrow this down a bit:
*) are you having troubles with any motor on port 1?
*) One particular motor on any port?
*) What does “Device Info” screen say about the port to which you connect the motor?
I have had issues with firmware update mismatch bricking a motor such that it would no longer answer to any communication (so that the port appears empty), but in my case, the bootloader part of the motor firmware was still OK and I was able to revive such a motor by forcing it into the boot loader.
