What’s the rationale behind powering the omni wheels and not the regular wheels? Wouldn’t those rubber wheels have more traction?

the rubber wheels do have more traction, although the omni wheels have those side rollers, the side rollers allow for much easier turning and less strain on the motors. some people prefer traction over omnis but both the omnis and traction can climb the teeter with ease. its personal preference, experiment with both : )

actually, omni wheels have more traction than traction wheels. A bit counter-intuitive, but if you think about how grippy and squishy those rollers are, it makes sense.

Ok, but when turning/spinning, will the center of rotation be between the omni wheels?

No. It will be between the traction wheels, because those don’t slide.
