my time is having a hard time understanding the rules for the horizontal expansion for the robot. after watching several plays, we’ve noticed that some group could start quite far from the starting line while having a long scrapper rush mech (specifically blrs2) is this really legal?
If by the beginning of the match, the robot does not break the 18x18x18 size limit, and breaks the plane of the starting line, then it is legal. Look at G5 and SG-1.

I think so not positive tho
To my knowledge (from one of the Pits and Parts from that event) teams use string that comes out of the back of the robot to break the plane of the line, and then retracts when the match starts, and it just isn’t visible on bad quality live streams.
