Hey guys we’re trying to decide whether to do Pneumatics or motors for a MoGoMech in High Steaks. Feel free to write your opinion(s) !
I hightly recommend using pneumatics, motors will not be as strong and if they are made stronger by using a gear ratio, are much slower. Pneumatics and made for these kinds of tasks

Pneumatics has the possibility of leaking
Motors have the possibility of overheating
Both carry some level of risk but you can easily solve the second problem by switching out the motor
But pneumatics are better as noted above in other people’s posts
You should use pneumatics. Because it’s a lot stronger and would prevent other teams to steal your MOGO.
I’ve heard about locking mechanisms for both motor and pneumatics-activated clamps. Specifically over-center locking mechanism.

Pneumatics are better for your mogo, as they’re faster and can be better for holding in the mogo. When my team was working with our robot, we decided to go with pistons because we were planning on doing a 6-motor drive.
Using pistons can save the amount of motors that you use to be put into other mechs.
Yea pneumatics, they are not only better at the job but you probably want to save your motors for something pneumatics can’t do.
Pneumatics because they are quicker and more on demand rather than a motor turning. Also one of my sister teams has one and the mobile goal clamp motor is prone to over heating a lot.
