Monitor Supply

I have a robotic application where I need to limit the forward and reverse torque settings and I know torque is proportional to motor current. Do you see any problems with your 883 controller if I place an ultra low value resistor in series with the power line and monitor the volt drop to then let my application PIC change the PWM once I reach my preset torque (i.e. current) limit?

This should not be a problem. You may need a RC filter to get an average voltage reading since the current is Pulse Width Modulated. Also be sure your resistor can handle the wattage.
