Motor Failure on Vexplorer

I just got a vexplorer for Christmas and about a week later the gears in the motor on the claw started to slip then finally the motor couldn’t even pull open the claw. Has this happenend to anyone else??? How can I fix it???:(:(:frowning:

Does the motor still run when removed from the claw? Are the teeth on the two gears the open and close the claw worn down, or are the teeth on the 12-tooth gear that the motor turns directly worn down?

If the motor itself still works, then it has to be either the claw gears or the 12-tooth gear. Hopefully, it is the 12 tooth gear that is worn down, because they are the cheapest to replace. If not, then you will have to go for a new claw attachment. I wouldn’t have much hope of getting it replaced by IFI, as they have basically discontinued the Vexplorer, as they have basically discontinued the Vexplorer product. The individual components are still sold individually though, so you can replace them yourself. If anything bt the 12 tooth gear is messed up, you’re probably looking at about $20 to fix it.

Actually, I think that it is the gears inside the motor that are slipping

You will need a new motor then, because they don’t sell the gears for Vexplorer motors like they do for Vex motors. They’re sold in packs of 2 though, so you get an extra one on the bargain. Just to be sure, you should try switching the motor in question out with one that you know works before replacing it.
