Motor strain relief question

Lots of our motors have had the black rubber part (the strain relief on the motor wires) broken. With this damage is is possible(after lots of ware) to short the wires causing problems and hardware damage. I was wondering if there was either a way to get some of the strain relief grommets or some recommended way to alleviate the possibility of the wires shorting. I though that possibly something like this could be used in moderation to replace the missing strain relief grommets:

I also considered the use of a short section of thick heat shrink to help the problem.

What is the best way to fix this problem?

Here is an image of what can happen if these grommets are missing.

To be clear Im asking how to prevent the damage in the picture not correct it.
It might also be useful if they were included in the motor refurb kits.

ajo518,

Unfortunately such rubber grommets are not available for sale as an individual part. Once the rubber grommet is damaged, the wire insulation can be damaged causing a short on the motor;therefore, its better to replace those motors under the 90-Day warranty.

If the motor is outside of the warranty, please contact [email protected] for availability on the rubber grommets as I might be able to scavenge some from old/dead motors.

Also you should be able to fix the motors using electrical tape, heat shrink or the material you provided on the link.

FYI: You probably need to retire the motor in the attached picture. Use it for spare parts.

Regards.
