Motor Won't Spin

Hello all,

We have at least 5 of these motors that won’t spin. It barely spins when you turn with a metal shaft or power it. They are 2 years old. Barely used. I’m not sure how they went bad in two years with little use.

Do you know any solution? Have you experienced this before?

Thank you in advance.

Could you send us a video of what they are doing? I can help more most likely with that info. But in the meantime, did you make sure the battery in the brain was fully charged? Are the ports on the motors obstructed in any way? Is the cable you are using damaged somehow?

I am guessing this means that your hand turning the motor (while the motor is unpowered) is not working (the motor won’t spin when you make it). From this, it seems to me that the internal mechanism/gearing may be broken. Maybe you can try shaking the motor and listen for pieces tumbling within.

This may have been caused by impacts such as dropping the motor or over-working the motor to the point of mechanical failure. If this is the case, I don’t believe there is a competition-legal, safe, or practical solution.

Here is the video

Here is the video of what is happening.

Can you plug it into a brain and show it spinning? They look like what @Bean said might be what’s wrong
