Motors Frying

If the motors quickly burned out without excessive load , wire shorts, etc, you should check your motors for Rev10 issues and contact vex support.

Note, there are now rev 10 motors back in circulation that were repaired. The test tool cannot tell the difference between a rev10 motor with the problem vs one that has the repair complete.

Vex support told me to look for a black sharpie dot near serial number - if your motor tests as rev10, and the black dot is near serial number, the motor should be good to use per vex support. We just put these motors back into our team circulation - will provide updates if we see any issues worth the reworked rev10s.

When you say a ‘buzzing’ noise… I’m interpreting this as possible stripped INTERNAL gears inside the motor. You can continue to disassemble the motor with a size “0” phillips screwdriver. You may find these stripped gears… and if you have any other truly dead motors, salvage those gears, and get your motor up and running again.

THEN, redesign so that you don’t kill more motors.

If the buzzing noise is particularly high pitched that could be the motor being shorted and thus the motor’s internal H-Bridge making very unhappy noises. A video showing what the motor sounds like would probably help here @omegaman.

i think it could be static but I dont know much about static, but we have our field on this carpet and we also have antistatic tiles, so will there still be static buildup
