Moving pre-drawn pictures into the notebook

If I were to start drawing pictures for my notebook on a separate piece of paper, and move it into the notebook, would it be legal? It would help a lot to be able to do this, but I don’t want to break any rules. Thanks.

Yes, that’s perfectly okay. In general, you can check the Guide to Judging for any questions like this you may have in the future.

Yeah, you’re able to add pictures into physical notebooks so Im pretty sure it would just be treated as a picture. Also, you basically have to do this on digital notebooks too, so it’s fine for physical notebooks.

As has been suggested elsewhere, strongly consider doing a digital notebook.

If you do a physicaly, when you paste/tape in the drawing from loose paper, sign over the taped-in page and onto the notebook page so that your signature spans both the bound page and the attached page. This makes it clear to the judges that the paper was attached on the date on the page.

Digital notebooks solve so many problems IMO

We thought about using digital, but the judges for our local comps has a big preference to physical notebooks over digital.

Our coach also prefers us to use physical, but is ok with digital.

Judges MUST NOT favor a format over another. EP can determine if notebooks will be submitted digitally or physically, and teams will submit one or other in the correct format. So if you do digital notebook and the event requires a physical submissions, you just print it out, or if the event requires electronic submission, then scan the physical notebook if that is your team’s format.

I strongly urge you read the Guide to Judging thoroughly.

Let your coach know digital notebook have many advantages, such as allowing all team members to collaborate on the documentation, even when apart. For teams, you also reduce the “oops I forgot the notebook at home or at the event…”

I hope y’all choose to do it digitally because it will save a lot of time and effort, while also looking a lot more clean and easy to read.
