Multi-function air reservoir

Hello,
My team is working for the first time ever with pneumatics this year. (this is our second year.) We have noticed a lot of teams have 4+ pistons all for different functions, while all using only 2 air reservoirs. When they fire Piston 1 linked to Reservoir 1, it doesn’t fire Piston 2, despite piston 2 drawing from reservoir 1. How does this work? Pictures would be beneficial.

this works through the solenoids. the solenoids give you a programmable way to control the air flow.
