Need help creating a joint on robot

Hi. I’m currently working on a project and I’m trying to build something that can open and close like a cabinet. I will be using c-channels for the cabinet part. I would like if someone could tell me how I could make a joint like a cabinet for this. I have attached a very badly drawn picture of what I want. The lines represent the metal and they need to be able to open and close back up again. Thanks for the help.

You can use a hinge

You can also use a screw joint

Video about Screw Joints

They won’t shake around as much and will overall be much more sturdy

Hi. In this video he only shows how to use this to make something move up/down. Do you know how this could be applied to make something open and close?

Do you know anything I could use as a substitution for this. My robotics class does not have any of these available. Thanks

Maybe you can attach some kind of part to attach the c channels together, like a plate or something.

You can cut a plate to some length, maybe 3 holes long, and attach the c channels to the side holes (sorry for no image I’m responding on my phone)

I’m going to try and do what you said here. I’m not 100% sure what you mean by it but I’m going to try. If you have a chance to send a picture of what you were talking about it would be a great help. Thanks

In case you want another suggestion, you can try designing the claw on the vex iq clawbot, but with vrc parts

Simple hinge with a screw and a spacer.

This is pretty much what i did today. Just connected the gears together and connected them to the c-channels. Thanks everyone who tried helping.
