Hi, We are the new team that wants to join the competition this year, but I still have some questions about the competition.
Before the competition day, can we prebuild the robot and also have the program installed inside, or do we need to build it and program it on the competition day? If we need to build and program it on the competition day, how much time do we have?
We can use only one type of robot per competition, is this correct?
In the drive skill and autonomous skill test, do we need two drivers like the team collaboration mode?
For programming, can we use an iPad for competition?
Can we prepare the documents like code, and manual for building to look in the competition
We are in Thailand and the first competition that we would like to join is St. Andrew, Can we collect the score from this round and join the other competition?
You are actually expected to have ypur robot done and fully programed both for driver contril and auton before the competition. This doesnt mean thay you can tweak things or fix problems thay arise in between matches but your robot should be completlwy done before the competition date.
You are only allowed 1 robot to compete with
Iirc you need 3 drive team members 1 for loading the balls and retreiving and 2 for driving (they may have switched it to one) but tou can find the specifics in the game manual found on the vex website. As for the autonomouse skills portion there should be no driver imput. As the name implies it should be fully pre programmed.
I think that it is possible to program from an ipad so long as you properly install vex codeblocks on there. If not there is a way to program from any browser. And so long as you have a usb port on your decice you can upload that code to your bot
Yes you can. You are even encouraged to be documenting your whole proccess in am engineering notebook which will be judjed at comps and you could potentially win awards for it. There is a ruberic on vex website thay outlines the categories thay should be included.
Not really sure what your asking but if you saying that can you go to multiple multiple comps to improve your preformance and hopefully qualify to higher levels of competition.
To answer a majority of these questions I would recommend that you search for other threads that already exist regarding brand new teams. As far as competition day goes, teams are only allotted a singular robot per team that is built prior to the competition by the team. You are not allowed to bring multiple robots and likely will not have time at the competition to construct said robot. For the skills and programming challenges you do need two drivers who can choose whether they would like to swap controllers at half-time. As far as programming goes you can use any device that supports vexcode programs. As far as joining competitions, I would recommend you go to the Robot Events website and email your event managers for more information. In conclusion, your students should build and program the robot and bring it to the competition ready to operate. Competitions are fast-paced and stressful, you should come fully prepared and educated. I hope this helps!- Jamil from 10863A.
In driver skills, you need thw drivers and a loader (if you only hace two team members, others can load for you). In autonmus skills, no one is driving but up to three team members can load.
Yes. Make sure you use VexCode IQ or VSCode with the Vex Robotics extension.
You can perpare anything you want (use common sense). Just make sure you do not violate the Code of Conduct!
