Need help with SMC pneumatics

So i have my first pneumatics except they keep losing air even if im not using them. I’m using a single action and it looses air too fast.

I tried using the pneumatics in the second and it dropped from 129 to 25. (i know 129 is an illegal amount, just testing) Can anyone help?

Pneumatics have 2 main areas that can create leaks.
First, there are several threaded areas of the system that be loose or leaky.
Second, tubing connections can leak.

Take a look at this diagram of the legacy pneumatics system with a single action cyclinder such as yours.

Go through your system and check every single spot carefully and thoroughly. It’s there somewhere, and you can find it.

That’s a great diagram. Do you mind if I or others use it?

The diagram without the leakage annotations (which are very comprehensive) comes from this VEX Library article if you’d prefer to use it without the annotations: https://kb.vex.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404204973076-Legacy-Selecting-a-Pneumatics-Kit-for-the-V5-System

Its a learning tool. Use it at will.

If some of them are leaking, should I put Teflon on the screw ons and the tubing? Would it help to seal and if given instructions don’t work?

Vex has a very good page with all the info you need on how to properly
setup your legacy pneumatic system to prevent air leaks.

Never tape on the tubing! To keep tube from leaking, you need a clean straight cut before you push it into the fittings. On the smallest fittings, into the solenoids and the air cylinders, there are small sealing washers. On the fittings to the air tank, you can use teflon tape if needed.

Mix a bit of dish soap into water to make a leak-test solution and it will blow soap bubbles where the leaks are.
