Need to calibrate controller constantly

We are constantly having to recalibrate our controller. We get maybe one run out of it and the controller turns red. Also almost every time we turn the brain on we have to recalibrate. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Have you tried reloading the VEXOS in both the brain and the controller.

Are you sure your controller battery is fully charged?

Thank you for the response. Yes. I have downloaded the firmware a number of times and the issue is happening to a couple of my teams. I was almost wondering if they are interfering with each others signal??

Lets try to dig some more:

  1. How many brains
  2. How many colors of radios (ie 5 brains 4 black radios 1 blue radio)
  3. When you refresh the brains / controller pairs are they any errors.
  4. Do any of the controllers work with any if the brains.
  5. Battery in the brains are fully charged

Thanks!

I have 4 brains.
3 with blue radios one with black
There are no errors when recalibrating the remotes
The remotes do not control any robot other than their own
Batteries are fully charged.

Although we are well into the season and the problem has just started to happen I feel like maybe I am missing something that I was suppose to do. I have reloaded the VEXOSUtility and made sure the controller was plugged in while I was doing it. Is there another update I need to download or another program I need to make sure is on my brain?

Try leaving blue tether cable plugged in for awhile after the controller LED turns green. Could be controller batteries are getting weak.

When you say recalibrate, do you mean re-tether? You’d need to recalibrate if the robot was heavily creeping when the controls were centred or if you couldn’t reach 100% reading on an axis, even with the stick fully deflected.

What you are describing sounds like a tethering issue. Red light being the battery light? Sounds like controller batteries are failing.

Thank you. The red light is where the 4 bar and on off symbol is. (Middle bottom of remote) It is normally flashing green when working fine. Below it is the battery indicator and it only goes red when our battery is about to die. If I recalibrate (re-tether the brain to the remote) and go in and choose calibrate the controller on the brain it will fix the problem (for a while).
