What happens if someone tied 0-0 but one team has all of the other team’s MOGO’s in the negative corner, which means that one of the teams has a negative score, do you tie? This situation is possible, and I think one way to solve this problem would be to make it so that if your total score is technically negative, then the enemy team will get these points as positive points. For example, if MOGO is in the negative corner and has 3 rings (-5 points) on it and the enemy is 0 points total, then it shouldn’t be a tie, rather you have 0 and the enemy has 5. I think that would be a better representation of your skill level because the team who got the other person a ton of negative points is probably more skilled.
Your idea is good but flawed.
- Making rules more complicated
- Harder to tie
- GDC specifically states that they did not want negative point values for scores
So as good as this might sound I don’t think it will ever happen
Good points, but tying is a big waste of time for the judges and the students, and this is to prevent ties. Also, this rule is not to get negative points, but instead, it adds points to the opposing side. This means there is an actual reason to stack up on the opposing color and shove them into the negative zone.
I think the rule is perfectly fine, it isn’t too complicated, it doesn’t give negative points, and from experience, tying is so annoying, it wastes so much time and no one to wait that long because some people tied. Even though this rule wouldn’t prevent to much tying, I think it would help with ranking as a more accurate representation because I’m pretty sure that you average points per game help ur ranking
