I have a Belkin N1 Router. I need a laptop card thats compatible with it. Would anyone have a preference of networking gear, or know if one works better than the other? I have not tried the Belkin N1 card, but I have tried the *N card *(one step lower) which didn’t reach where it needs to go. My parents *will not *let return the next product we get, so it needs to work. It mainly needs range, not speed!
What sort of distance are you talking about? How many Walls and/or obstructions? Are there other WiFi systems in your area?? Do you have other devices in the same Frequency Range that might be interfering with the Networking??
You might read this information about 802.11 networking… Limits in distance and Interference are important…
The distance is about 529 in. (43.83 ft.). It has to go through a kitchen. There are a few networks near by, but it’s less than 5. It would also have to go through **3 walls **with doors (2 doors are usualy\always open, 1 is open as much as not). We also have a 2.4 Ghz phone 3 ft. from the router. We could only move the router to one other place, by-passing the kitchen, but we would have to get another adapter for my parents computer, it’s wired, which is something I don’t want to do. This is a hard place for a router!
Doesn’t anyone have a preference???
d-link or linksys are both really good choices
i use d-link and my connection is really good
i am a floor below and the router is underneath the desk
I have never heard of buffalo.
It can be found at Circuit City.
The home site for the US is: Buffalo Technology.
i think d link is best got one and it works great has to go through like ten wals lots of other wireless stuff too
i agree with VEXROCKS, dlink is a good choice, i am a floor above the router and right now the reciever is on top of the tower and near a phone and im getting excellent signals with 54Mbps:D
ive never used d link but i have a belkin g router in the office under a desk and i use a g usb for my computer which is upstairs in my room and i get good reception
i heard that u get better reception if you use the same brand for both the router and the card
