New event system for the China(Mainland) Event Region

I thought this is quite interesting news to post, just yesterday the China(Mainland) Event Region committee introduced a new event system for the China Event Region. What I know from the previous seasons: it was quite chaotic. There are multiple National Championships in one season, and there wasn’t a clear qualifying system for going into the Nationals.

This year China(Mainland) is know divided in to four regions, teams which won a local qualifying tournament gets to go to the “Regional Championships”. Award winners, skills champions, 2nd, 3rd and tournament champions or finalist, semifinalist (30% of the total teams) in the “Regional Championships” gets to go to 1 of the 3 “National Championship”.

• It’s quite similar to the Australia event region.

I’ve done a little counting with the Robot Events map search, numbers of VEX VRC teams of the four regions:

• Southern China Region: 200
• Eastern China Region: 320
• Mid-Western China Region: 170
• Northern China Region: 250

I think that this change is great since it simplifies the Chinese qualification structure for V5RC and VIQRC to something similar to that in other countries like Australia or the UK. The 2023-2024 qualification structure felt like a big mess to me with how unclear the qualifying structure is to me.
