New Overlay Feedback

I’ve a number of YouTube matches from livestreams, etc. In general, I really like the new layout. However, I do have some feedback:

  1. Especially this year, with corners being so important, having the match information in the bottom right can often mean viewers cannot see an important area of the field. The team setting up cameras needs to be mindful of the change so that the overlay doesn’t obscure a critical area of the field.
  2. More importantly, there no longer seems to be an indicator for which team won auton (and AWP):

  1. Complete nit: Since I’m not aware of Red-Blue colorblindness being a thing, the lines for “Red Alliance” and “Blue Alliance” seems redundant can just takes space away from the action. Perhaps moving the Red and Blue team numbers to the Top Left and Top Right (with an option to reverse depending on the camera’s viewpoint so Red data is always on the Red Driver Station) would be nice

I really love the scoring breakdown display. Now, if only that could get sent out to Vex Via and RobotEvents…

I strongly agree with you on the first piece of feedback. sometimes, in over under, the scores were on the sides of the screen like you said, red on one and blue on the other. I liked this but since the camera is facing the field from above, then they might have to put the scores on the top left and right corner and move down the Q and their beautiful logo.

I agree with you fully but i will just point out monochromacy. This is a very small demographic of people (less than 1 in 1 million) but technically there could be someone out there. I don’t think that there would be that many people but as someone who is colorblind (even though I’m not monochromatic) I mess up these things all the time and always love it when there are names with the colors (like the little ones on colored pencils have saved me in art). I would always just play it safe because if I’m watching something and cannot understand it because of my colorblindness i feel left out and vex is so amazing that nobody should end up left out of vex.
