For myself and my user experience, I’m surprised by the contrast in visibility between the new Q&A site and the old system here on the forum. In the past I was almost updated daily on current Q&As, now it would be optimistic to say I’ve checked the new site twice.

I wonder, would be possible to have a forum here, maybe “Official Q&A” channel, where the new system’s answers get posted for review with the link back to the new site?

Q&A get answered on Fridays - some questions may take more than one week to get an answer. So it is safe to say checking once a week for official Q&A is not unreasonable.

I agree with @Adam T that it would be good to have a place on the forum where the official Q&A answers (at least the important ones) are posted, or if not, have some other way for people to sign up to be automatically notified (including by email) whenever a new Q&A question is asked and/or a new answer is given.

Reviving this thread to give some updates. (it’s crazy how fast “internet time” flies, this thread was only posted 2 weeks ago but it feels like it’s been a while since we were having these discussions)

Event Partners now have the ability to post questions.

This was, quite frankly, a gap that we shouldn’t have missed, that you all caught right away, and I’ll take the blame for that. EP’s are some of our most knowledgeable and invested followers of the competition, so inviting their questions is a no-brainer (to quote Paul). An added benefit of this is that head referees now have an official avenue to post questions. If you are a head referee not affiliated with a team, you can ask the EP for the event where you are referee’ing to post on your behalf.

If you are a head referee not affiliated with an event (i.e. not actually referee’ing), or a community member not affiliated with a team (i.e. not actually a competitor), you are welcome to continue contributing via unofficial channels or by emailing [email protected].

Issues with posting questions.

A few people in this thread and elsewhere have been unable to post questions. I have been able to reach out to each one individually via PM and help to resolve their issue. Common issues seem to be the following:

Not being actually logged in to the account. Check to see if the top right says “Login” or “My Account”.

Not being logged in to the account listed as the “Primary Contact”. Some people may have multiple logins (a team email vs a personal email or whatever). While this is not recommended for various reasons, please check that you are logged in with the correct account.

The “Primary Contact” is listed as an email address, not an actual RE account. Please make sure that you actually have a RobotEvents account, and are logged into it, when creating a team. Your REC Foundation Regional Support Manager can help to untangle this if you need help.

“Download by Tag” now active.

This is a somewhat minor one, but still pretty cool (I think, at least). If you click a question tag, it will pull up all questions associated with that tag. When you click the orange “Download PDF” button, it will now give you the option to download all questions with that specific tag. Tags can only be created by GDC moderators, to avoid having separate tags for “R8”, “R-8”, and “decorations”.

Can you add to the PDF table of contents the page number and put page numbers on each page. Also, add the tags to each of the questions on the table of contents. It will for those print the document for events.
