I purchased a new V5 Classroom kit. Vexcode V5 is not recognizing the V5 Brain. I tried several cables and two different V5 brains. I am running Windows 10.
Does the VEXOS program see it?
If so make sure you shut down the VEXOS program before trying VEXCode, only one Application at a time.
Is it showing up in Wimdows Device Manager under Ports (COM and LPT)? Or are you seeing any Unknown Devices in Decice Manager?
I do not see it in Windows Device Manager. The PC recognizes it and I see the “preparing a device” message. After that nothing. The Web app works on the same PC and i have not issues with my MacBook. Our lab has PC’s so I’d like to sort this out.
Thank you for the response!
I do not think I have the VEXOS program running. I just have VEXCode installed.
It sounds as though the driver is not able to install on this device. Perhaps it is locked down so that the driver can not install and may need admin access to allow it to install.
Once it has installed, admin access would no longer be required.
I have admin access to the PC. When is the driver installed? Is the driver installed when the App installs?
Yes, but final installation is probably completed on first connection. Are you seeing any Unknown Devices listed in Device Manager? Does this Brain work when used on a known good machine that can connect to other Brains?
The brain works correctly with my MacBook Pro and the VEXcode V5 web app on the PC running Windows 10. I do not see any devices in device manager.
You can browse to this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\VEX Robotics\Drivers and run the Console Driver Installer to try getting the drivers to install.
Perhaps the computer is detecting it as something else.
If you plug/unplug the USB cable whilst in device manager you can see where it is appearing/disappearing.
If itnis notndoing anything on this PC but works on other devices, it all points to the PC being locked down in some way or thr PC USB ports not functioning.
Thank you for your help. I resolved the issue.
What was the problem? Be great to know in case others have similar issues.
It looks like a .dll conflict.
I uninstalled Vexcode V5, reinstalled (again) and then followed nnolte’s recommendation to force the driver installation.
