New vs Old CORTEX Difference

When I was busy switching the new Cortex with the old Cortex to put them in their correct housing (I was putting the new cortex back into it’s original housing to get ready to return it), I realized that the new CORTEX had a familiar difference. The two pictures are different angles to show the differences of size of the PTC’s, and it looks pretty clear that the new CORTEX(Left) has bigger PTC’s than the old CORTEX(Right). Here are my questions:

  1. Is this something purposefully done?
  2. Do they both trip at the same time, despite the size difference?
  3. If they don’t trip at the same time, would the new CORTEX still be considered legal or should be turned in?

Thank you for bringing this situation over to our attention.
Based on the pictures you provided it looks like the components in question have the same SKU number. Before answering your three questions, we will need to have a clear close-up picture that shows the full SKU number on the PTC components. Also we will need a picture of the date code of both microcontrollers, such code can be found on the back of the Cortex.
