Note Book

Is a x-555 advanced five star notebook with cloth cover over spiral, regulation for the notebook?

…no? Who told u that? I think that’s just a recommendation. The only thing that I’ll say is that you should use grid paper and use a notebook where pages can’t be taken out or put in

It has grid in it an has lined paper as well. So why would it be against the rules? Also I can not put papers in to the notebook i can take it out but if i do i would not e be able to put it back in.

No notebook is illegal it’s just recommended to have graph for drawing

Because it’s a spiral it probably won’t get the bonus points. However you can still use any notebook for your notebook.

u could use a stone tablit for all vex cares but graph paper helps a lot and for first year teams the blue one vex makes is perfect
for your second year move to the black one
if u are documenting a lot or have a long season u may want to get a custom one

@Avonderweidt - I’m not a big fan of the blue VEXIQ notebook. Not really places to write text, putting text into the grids is a mess. The black one is a better choice.

One of my favorites is the 1/2 graph 1/2 line book from Mead.

I like this one the best for my work Science Notebook. I take them to Staples and get the wire binding replaced with the plastic so it will fold over better.

i know i said for first year iq teams.
the black one can be overkill

@Avonderweidt - If you are buying VEX books, the black book had much more usefulness over the blue. But the 1/2 grid 1/2 writing book, each page gives a place to draw. They seems to work out pretty good. Plus you can get six of the comp books for $20, ($3.44 each)

OTOH first year IQ roboteers are really into the build and really into the driving part. So I’ve also seen first year roboteers and write “We built parts” in the notebook

lol

My team uses this book cuz it’s bound and the thicker pages don’t allow for ink to bleed through to the backside of the page.

It’s hard to write text on a grid without it looking like a crossword puzzle. You might want to consider something with lines.

i belive this wound be better because of the graph

You missed my point. Lots of teams want to write notes. Having ruled lines makes that easier. Notebooks that have both ruled pages and graph pages are highly desirable.

Writing text on graph paper sometimes turns into looking like a crossword puzzle (one letter to a square) , And you need to remember it’s the READ part of the notebook that is most important.

I get your point about it looking like a crossword puzzle. But what I struggle with is getting my kids to write bigger. I swear they act like I am charging them by the page. :kissing_heart:
