On occasion when sitting idle, running code my brain will crash and the lights on all of the motors will flash on and off. The radio light is off. This was happening last year to, so I don’t think it’s my code. I’m using PROS on the v5. I already opened an issue with PROS and @hotel didn’t think it was PROS.
Anyone else having this problem?
This is a common problem with the V5 brain, and Ive experienced the same problem with coded both PROS and VCS, so it is a firmware or hardware problem.
Good to know that it’s not just me.
First I’ve heard of it. How/when does this happen to you ? Is anything on the brain responsive ? Screen, button ? USB ?
This problem has happened to me once or twice in a couple of competitions when I had V5 and happened once at VEX Worlds (Luckily during practice). Whenever I am practicing in my field, I have this problem nearly every time I practice and it does get me bothered. Nothing is responsive from the V5 brain when this happens, which I would have to generally unplug and re-plug the V5 battery back in. About 25% of the crashing happens immediately after replacing the battery, 50% after downloading a program, and the other 25% while just driving normally. I wish I can provide more information, but I seriously have no clue what causes the crashes. If I am not mistaken the screen stays up but doesn’t whitescreen, rathermore just freezes and stays unresposive.
Hopefully this can be of help, but I really don’t know too much as to what causes this problem.
This happened to me as well at Worlds. The brain just stopped working. It wouldn’t turn off either. I used VCS. I ended up just unplugging the battery from it, which turned it off. Afterwards it worked fine. My motor lights didn’t flash though, they just turned off. Same thing would happen for my controller, where it just wouldn’t turn off. I forget what I did for that. I think I reset it with the button in the back.
It seems random. The brain nothing is responsive it doesn’t even show up as a device in linux. You can’t even hold down the power button for a long time to shut it off.
Yeah we have this too. The only fix was to just unplug the battery (which obviously you can’t do during a match.
Usually we crashed when during our field controller (the manual one, not TM controller) after exiting auton.
Hi Connor,
Did you ever find a solution to this? We just had a brain start doing this today.
5 year old topic, start a new one and describe the issue you have in more detail.
