what meta:
- rubber band intake
- mesh intake
- flex wheel intake
they all have their upsides and downsides, but which is the best right now?

It appears on youtube that distribution is pretty much equal. However in my opinion many good teams perform well no matter what of the 3 types they use, as long as it is implimented right.
All are good. My team uses a flex wheel intake that’s positioned like a rubber band intake. It’s the same, but even smaller. We find it best because it’s the most compact and gets to the point the fastest.
Just want to clarify that a mesh intake is a rubber band intake, it just covers it with mesh.
As for which one’s better, it depends on what you want.
Efficient at intaking
Can be good for both intake and intake to cata
Entanglement Risk
I mean it’s pretty much the rubber band intake but it has mesh, and I haven’t seen it as much on intake-to-cata bots.
Good for intaking/outaking
I haven’t seen many teams doing intake-to-cata using these
They’re pretty heavy compared to rubber band rollers
Mesh and flex wheels are similar bands are probably slightly better at picking things up but they have the downside of the potential to get caught on objects which can cause disablement or dq
Here you go:
Take a look
For the most part, if you have flex wheels then they seem to be easiest to use. And they also manipulate the triballs VERY well when implemented right.
Agreed. Getting a good rubber band roller to work without tangling and without compromizing function is hard. Flex wheels do tend to be easier and have a faster pickup.
I’d like to add that using a mesh intake has the benefit of being a lot harder to entangle than a rubber band intake.
it’s nice to see more people going to flex wheels a few months ago it felt like it was just us and then everyone else was band rollers
