Open end Chassis

How do I build an open end Chassis? I am using a modified 6 bar for a dumper.

You mean some sort of U shaped base? here is one.

@Doug Moyers , Nice set of videos on Youtube!

Thanks!

Would thees work to hold the two frame members together?

you could try making a barce across the back where you could mount your lift to aswell if yor not already mounting it to the drive itself

I don’t understand what you mean. Could you post a picture?

the way the robot has it in the first video its got the 5wide across the back and so his lift is mounted on that

Do you mean c Channel?

either, or

The gussets you linked above should work as long as you use them correctly. As long as you think about the forces that will be acting on your base/lift (ex: turning, hitting a wall, dumping a heavy load of stars), you should be able to ensure that your robot will be stable enough to withstand competition.

And don’t forget, always test your robot incrementally to catch problems before they become so integrated into everything else that you have to rebuild your robot to fix them :stuck_out_tongue: This testing will also help you to get a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t, which will make it easier to design better robots in the future.
