Our school has a prospective student open house coming up, and we want to do a robotics demonstration. Basically, there are groups of visitors who are each led by a tour guide around the school. We were thinking of letting prospective students drive the robot, and we would answer any questions they have. What do you guys think? Do you have any other ideas to make our robotics team look good?
FYI, if it helps, our robot is a cap bot w/ a pancake flipper and we don’t have the parts to build a demo bot
We’ve personally done something similar to this, however we were invited to an elementary school to perform a demonstration on our robots along with our achievements and ways they can be a part of robotics in the future. If it helps, try to see if you can bring a previous season robot or a season before that. It helps show students along with parents on how designs change over time. I’d also recommend putting together a slide show on previous awards and achievements along with previous competitions they have done.
That sound like a great idea for you guys, for me it is a horrible idea. I have a flywheel bot and that thing hurts. Having inexperienced drivers can also be beneficial to you, now you’ll know if anything’s loose assuming the bot is slammed against the wall a few times!
