optical shaft encoder still gives headaches

OK. I’ve seen the sample and the tutorial for optical shaft encoder, but does it matter where the two wires are plugged into? And how EXACTLY is the program suppose to look like. I’ve tried everything. If there is anyone who can walk me step by step on how to do this (plug the correct wires into the correct ports, where to put everything in to program (using CORTEX 4), etc.) PLEASE contact me, either through the forum or we could exchange numbers or whatever.

Did you do as the sample program says and connect the encoder to ports 1 and 5?
