I teach a middle school tech elective and they’ve been having a great year using the old VEX IQ Gen 1 kits we have. We are looking for a competition kit for Pitching In. I don’t see any on the VEX website, I am wondering what people do with old competition kits when they are finished with the season? Where should I look to try and purchase? I have the field, so I just need the structural pieces (and balls). Thanks!
Some of the pieces should be regular vex iq pieces. Not sure what happened to our old pitching in vex iq field now.
I’m sure that lots of teams just shove theirs in the closet so you should be able to find one somewhere.
That’s what I had hoped, but so far, nothing. I guess I’ll try and build something from what we have. Thanks !
Sorry I missed this. In our case they get disassembled, parts sorted into the other parts and reused the next year to build with. At this point I have a huge collection of parts from the last 8 years.
At the end of the season I either make awards out of the plastic game elements or give them away to roboteers. One year I did a trophy with a person crossing the finish line with their arms up (track award). I hot glued rings into the arms, it was a very popular award.
For pitching in, we stacked 6 teams worth of the balls on a table and said “If you don’t have a pet at home, because a pet will destroy them in seconds, you can have one of the balls” and they were gone in less time than it took you to read this.
@bmmstechteach – So I failed on the Pitching In elements. But in a recent archeological dig I found a box with the Rise Above (2020-2021) elements. It all appears to be there, it was the one year that the entire field was VEX parts. The box has the “platforms” the standoffs and a bag of blue parts. If you want them contact me at myfirstname at stemrobotics dot org. and we’ll figure it out. - Thanks
