Peaucellier Lift Design

Hi everyone,

I recently saw something posted about a lift called a peaucellier planar linkage. It looked really neat, but I don’t have any ideas as to how to get the height needed for Skrise with this lift. Any ideas??? This is the first time I’ve seen this design, so I’m not really sure how to efficiently apply it…

I think the simplest and most efficient way to convert a small amount of linear motion into a large amount of linear motion is a scissor lift.

So, you could build a scissor lift that used peaucellier linkages instead of a linear slides. That might not be what you’re looking for, but I’m not sure how else you would go about building a multi-stage peaucellier linkage without incorporating gears or chain or sliders at some point. Using any of those parts sort of defeats the purpose, since if you’re prepared to use them then there are simpler ways of getting linear motion than a peaucellier linkage.

Thanks for the feedback - I honestly don’t think that with the height this lift will end up working well. But I never thought of using them with a scissor lift - cool idea!

Peaucellier linkage is so cool. When i first saw it i spent a whole evening trying to prove the geometry and find all those functions. But it is generally harder to design than a rotational arm, i would say, and they perform similarly regarding to heights.

If you want linear motion, elevator and scissor are the general way to go. Or double reverse bar lifts. If you really build a multi stage peaucellier lift, i would be really amazed.

As of now, our team is mainly considering a double reverse 4 bar. But I too would be amazed if we built a multi-stage peaucellier lift;)

Yeah. And the amount of resources it would take to do 3 stages might not be economical for some teams. Still, it would be a very interesting lift idea to try for this game.
