Rebuild in progress

thats the most cursed drivetrain i’ve ever seen

Funnily, this looks nearly identical to our old robot, except we had a catapult in place of the flywheel. I’ll post a picture of our new one, which is way different soon.

Ours is…not very good. We are still working on our intake and catapult, have not started wings, and I think we are not going to hang. We only meet 3hrs per week so building is a very slow process.

I also have an actual elevation, but I don’t have a picture of that.

No need to diss someone’s build. What you call “cursed”, I call progress. @Gigahertz.t was brave enough to share their build on a public forum, and I commend that.

I would recommend you THINK before you make another post.

Yes, thank you @Micahy321 for defending me.
I took the picture as I was swapping out my old drivetrain for a new one (old one on the right, new one on the left). @MIA.paint , though I do agree my old one on the right was pretty cursed, it is by far from the most cursed ones our club has built.

Instead of saying that, say something like “it doesn’t look too good, (insert recommendations) ccould make it better”.

Btw @Rilaye for 3hr a week, I feel you (we got 2 90-minute sessions a week for SkillsUSA, and I don’t know how you guys manage to pull off a VEX worthy bot in that time)

Yeah it’s definitely rough, especially how lopsided our funding is lmao. We have probably 15 V5 brains and 50 motors, but we don’t have an arena. We have one triball and one tile but nothing else so coding autonomous is really difficult :sob:

Your robot is pretty solid. I would recommend reversing the catapult direction ‘cause it looks better that way and works better too (I don’t really know, but I would guess so). And protect the battery a little better.

I don’t have any recent photos of our robot but here is a recent skills run we did we still got 2 weeks to get ready for States! skills run

Thanks! That catapult placement is temporary, especially since it is too tall to go under elevation bars currently. The part of the robot with the battery is our front and where we will attach our intake, so I think the catapult needs to stay in the back in order for us to matchload.

I would definitely not recommend switching the catapult direction, as we have ours (a slappa but also on a tower like that in the back) the other way around (so it has less distance to shoot over the barrier), and it is really hard to reach for matchloading (it would be a bit easier for a cata but still being hard to reach decreases accuracy of loading), and we have seen almost every other team have theirs facing forward (the direction yours is), and it seems to work better for them (also facing backward uses up more space in the robot). I would recommend finding a way to more your wheels closer together (or have more wheels) though, because our wheels are also like that and it makes really hard to go over the barrier forward (especially since we are backheavy) because the bar hits our gear between our back 2 wheels (you don’t have one but it would hit the c channel or the chain (both of which are bad, especially the c channel) stopping us from having traction to go over the barrier. I hope this helps!

Great run! Just a suggestion but I’d try using the back of your robot instead of your intake to do the pushes that score through the tougher, shorter side of the goal. Meaning go down the alley backwards. I’d also look at scoring the 2 red triball preloads under the blue goal so you can guarantee those will end up worth 5 points each instead of having the chance for your slapper to miss or have them not roll where you want them to.

Here’s an image of my team’s most recent robot:

Thanks!
yeah, we would score the 2 red in the close goal it just wasn’t on the field when we did that run because we were practicing robotics during parent-teacher conferences so we couldn’t use our main room.

Blockquote go down the alley backwards

I might try to do that.

we recently added wedged wings so if the middle barrier weren’t broken I would have pushed over those that got stuck on the close side. with some practice and a goated auton hopefully, we can be the first KS team to break 300 at states!
