To piggy back on a previous discussion about damaging field elements, this is our 3rd week of camp and the pins are starting to pop out of the goals (2 fields). A friend of mine used regular VEX screws to keep his connected as it was doing the same thing. Would this modification/support be legal on a competition field? or should we plan on getting new fields sets for competition? Thoughts?

The modification you’ve described is acceptable if an event partner chooses to do so. However, it’s recommended that events stick with the pins if possible.
