Pit Location?

I can’t seem to find anything online that points me to how the pits will be laid out this year. Specifically, how can I figure out where my teams’ pits will be? I have the venue layout and know that for V5RC there are two different areas and the divisions are moved around a little differently than the past few years. But I thought in the past that there were numerical listings on the pit maps?? Has anyone figured out the scheme for this year?

You will learn the layout at Worlds. Don’t worry, they’ll show you where you are located, and then you’ll have nothing to fret over.

I’d like to be able to direct some of the parents and others who may not be as familiar with Worlds on where our pits are ahead of time. I also have a team in HS and a team in MS and would love to plan on where each will be located. Finally, I’d like to know if there was thought given to having teams be located near their division fields. I just spent a week at FIRST World Championships and they divide the pits by division and it was a much better system than what I’ve experienced at VEX Worlds.

The problem with organizing pits by division at VEX Worlds is that (unlike FIRST) it’s very common for one organization to have multiple teams at the event, each in a different division. Since those teams often share coaches/mentors, it’s much better to have their pits next to each other rather than spread across the venue.

Yeah, each system has it’s trade offs.

Still looking for something that will direct me to where our pits will be this year, though!

When you get to Worlds, you will be shown where your pit(s) are, and you’ll know how to get there after you learn. There’s no preset map, because teams are invited, and they might not show up. You’ll have to wait until VEX releases a map, or you get to Worlds.

This will be our third year at Worlds, so I know that the layout is predetermined as there will be signs placed in each pit before we arrive. Usually there is a map that’s published online ahead of time so we know what general direction to head when we get there. I can’t seem to find that map this year, though.

Here is an earlier post with an image of and a link to the venue map.

I hope they split the teams into two halves to locate their pits in the general vicinity of their divisions. I know they have tried to keep teams from the same organizations next to each other in the past, but that could result in some very long and time-consuming walks to and from pits
