Pitch Rope broken

We just discovered that the Pitch Rope has broken. This rope is connected to a 2x Wide Spool, driven and triggered by a Ratchet, serving as the control for the launch mechanism. After about 100 launch tests, the rope suddenly broke at the port, and our initial assessment was that it was caused by material fatigue.

We have two questions:

  1. Has anyone experienced similar issues? For example, with the Hero Bot’s Pitch Rope?
  2. Does anyone have any suggestions for improvements? We have no idea at this moment.

We just checked the 2nd Generation package and found a backup 6-inch Pitch Rope, but the end port already shows signs of damage (never used or noticed before). If the Pitch Rope is a wear-and-tear item, is there a replacement option similar to Rubber Bands?

Assuming your launching mechanism is vertical and has to be pulled downward. I would either recommend to add more ropes for example 2 instead of 1 which will reduce fatigue. Alternatively you could try using rubber bands stacked together to increase their strength. Also if you have access to pnemautics you could try using a pnemautic connected to a 1x beam to increase its distance to reduce the amount of force the rope has to pull. And since your launcher mechanism is fairly unique if you provided more pictures it could be easier to give you advice.

I consider them to be wear and tear, you can get more here:

As a bonus the idle pulley is a help for chain tensioners.

Thanks, this helps.
Do you have the specifications of your product, such as the maximum tension force for the pitch rope?

Thanks, this helps.
We will modify the design to reduce the force on the rope as possible.
