Plane of the field

In the rules it says that a driver load ball may be placed on the robot or the starting tile without breaking the plane of the field but does anyone know if that means the vertical plane, i.e. from the wall up or the horizontal plane, i.e. from the top of the wall across the field so that we can reach over the field and drop them in.

My take is you can break the vertical plane because you are allowed to place a ball on your colored tile (so as not impart energy into the ball). If you toss it in from behind the vertical plane then the ball wont stay on your tile. I think you can break the vertical plan BUT NOT the horizontal plane so as to drop the ball straight down. It should not roll if you do that.
In order to place ball on the bot and not break either vertical or horizontal plane, the bot would have to extend itself OUTSIDE the field.

Great question, because the drivers, in the past, never to break the vertical plane.
