Plates

Is there any rule against having more than 2 plates on the robot? like if i had my teams plates, mounted on two opposite sides of the robot, could i mount additional plates of the same color with say my team name

Well, let’s take a look at the rules…

As seen here, the rule only states that license plates must be on a minimum of 2 opposing sides. The rule states nothing about the number of license plates though.

So, therefore, the GDC does not restrict the amount of license plates you use, as long as they are non-functional decorations and on at least 2 opposing sides. More than 2 license plates and/or having license plates on 2 or more sides of your robot is therefore legal.

As long as you have at least 2 license plates on at least 2 opposing sides with your team number in large, legible font, yes you are free to add some other license plates with your team name, provided they are not going to confuse the referees (like having a red plate with your name when you’re on the blue alliance).
They would follow the same rules as non-functional decorations.
