Pretty easy question for anyone with an official field. Does the platform level itself out when there is no weight/nothing contacting it?

I don’t have a field, but yes it does.
It’s on a double hinge so as long as the weight on both sides is within a similar range (probably very forgiving) the platform will balance.

Doesn’t the platform start the match touching the ground? How would it stay there if it automatically levels out?
there is an alliance goal that keeps the platform pinned down at the start of the match.

So to actually climb on it at the end, assuming you’ve moved the goal, you’d have to hold one end down?

yes, probably just pushing down on it with a lift would suffice.
