Pneumatic Cylinder behaving odd

One of the cylinders in flywheel Pneumatic set is behaving odd. It always staying extended and not retracting back. Can someone help me to fix it?

This happened to me once when I unplugged the solonoid from the brain while running a proggram. I had to powercycle the brain twie to fix this.

it may be super dry and not oiled in the piston

tho I’m not sure if this is legal because its not aloud in the shafts. it could also be in the air regulator thing. try switching that first

Air cylinders do not require any lubrication…even commercial air cylinders are run with non-lubricated air.

Oil is not required for a VEX pneumatic piston, unless you’re making an engine with it .

If they don’t need any, why is there grease on the metal shaft in the cylinders? (Also, is it pneumatic cylinder or air cylinder?)

do you see a slight bend in it? check if it does it will not go down even with a slight bend. (Speaking from experience lol)

Do they grease the IQ cylinders? I hadn’t checked. I know that the VRC cylinders are miniature instrumentation cylinders and have no grease.

The terms are interchangeable. In the fluid power industry, we call them air cylinders to differentiate them from hydraulic cylinders.

We don’t see any grease on our piston.

To help troubleshoot, take the air cylinder off your robot and see if it extends/retracts freely (we’re checking for mechanical damage to the air cylinder).

Next, double check that all the air hoses are properly connected to the solenoid and the air cylinder. Post a picture to the forum will help with advise.

Finally, post your code (my hunch this is the most likely problem).
