Pneumatic Lift not Working

I have a pneumatic 4-bar lift and it worked a couple days ago, but when I came back from a trip and added slightly more weight then it stopped working. I tried a couple things but with no prevail.
My current setup looks like this:

The pistons extend a super tiny bit but can’t move it at all.
I’m at a loss for what to do, any ideas?

  1. Use some rubber bands to assist the actuator
  2. To use less air, see this post (then you can use that air for the uptake):

  3. That actuator is really close to the pivot. Try putting further from the pivot.

I can think of 3 easy things to check:

  1. Do you have full air pressure in your reservoir? Try pumping it up to the full 100 psi and see if it works better.
  2. Is your pressure regulator set correctly? Did the setting on your regulator get adjusted down (intentionally or otherwise)?
  3. Does it work when you “help” it to go up? You may be exceeding the capabilities of your lift as designed.

The biggest thing I would advise is adding banding to help it lift up. I like to add enough so that the cylinders will have just enough power to bring the lift down but don’t do too much because you want to be able to use the lift even when you have less air.

Another thing you could try is moving the cylinder away from the center of rotation so it has a better mechanical advantage. Also, try to get the piston fully down when the lift is down to try to utilize the full range of motion of the cylinder.

Yeah I would definantly check to see if when you “help” push it a bit, if it goes up. If it does go up with your help, then I think that extra weight you added on is doing the harm

use the bigger pistons to give it more leverage.
